The Ministry of Internal Security (Hindi: आंतरिक सुरक्षा मंत्रालय) was a cabinet-level agency of the Government of Friends Society responsible for the maintenance of internal and public security within the nation. The ministry was formed on 12 October 2018 after the erstwhile Department of Internal Security of the Ministry of Home Affairs was created as an independent ministry to be headed by a cabinet minister. Arnab Sil was appointed as the first Minister of Internal Security on 12 October 2018.

History

The Ministry of Internal Security was created on 12 October 2018 by then President Varuna Sriraya to deduce the powers and functions of the Ministry of Home Affairs over the subjects of internal and public security affairs. Arnab Sil was thereupon appointed as the first Minister of Internal Security.

On 16 July 2019, the ministry was renamed as the Ministry of Security, however was reverted back to its original name on 6 August 2019. The ministry was abolished on 2 September 2019 and its functions were transferred to its parent ministry.

On 16 November 2019, the ministry was re-created as the Ministry of National Security and was merged back with the Ministry of Home Affairs on 3 March 2020. As of 2022, the Department of Internal Security is a department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
