Originally founded as Ministry of the Realm, the Ministry of the Interior eventually became one of the most prestigious portfolios as well as, theoretically, the most powerful ministerial office, having the largest number of administrative and supervisory functions and child agencies. It also has the largest budget within the cabinet.
Responsabilities
According to government, the Interior Ministry is responsible for setting the country's domestic policy, guaranteeing public security and enforcing law, dealing with immigration and all kind of civil registratios matters such as issuing documents, overseeing security and inteligence agencies, conducting surveys and polls and organizing elections, among other things. For such tasks, the ministry maintains a series of child agencies. It also assists the Lord Adjudicator in its function of overseeing compliance with the Constitution of Ebenthal by part of provincial and municipal governments. Furthermore, the ministry is empowered to conduct referendums.
