The Monarchy of Ceticilia is a non-hereditary system of monarchy. The first Ceticilia monarchy existed in 2017. After Queen Jane I stepped down from the throne, reforms were initiated leading to Ceticilia becoming a republic for 5 years until a system of monarchism was reestablished via referendum by Crown Prince Jean-Luc (or Crown Prince John II). While the Kingdom of Ceticilia was a parliamentary monarchy, the current monarchy is closer to being absolutist, with all power directly vested in the Crown Prince and not at all in public participation. If this will change remains to be seen. The new Crown Prince is styled as either Crown Prince Jean-Luc or Crown Prince John II to be in line with the previous monarch of Ceticilia, whose name is the feminine form of John.
