The Monarchy of Dungailliamh is the institution of the Queen of Dungailliamh, the monarch and head of state of the Kingdom of Dungailliamh, a state in County Galway. The monarchy was established in August 2022 upon the proclamation of the state by King Michael I.

In times where there is no monarch, or there is a monarch below the age of 13 years old (an example being the current incumbent), the Regent of Dungailliamh exercise the powers of the King/Queen.

History

A committee to set up a monarchal state in Galway was created by Thomas Jacobs, who wanted to create such a state as a side hobby. Soon Jacobs declared himself the King of Dungailliamh, as Michael I on the 20th of August 2022.

On the 13th of December that year, he would announce his abdication for a more suitable monarch, and designated Princess Kate as his heir. She would assume the throne on 1 January 2023.

Duties and responsibilities

As Head of State, the Monarch is the sovereign of the Kingdom, and holds reign over it, the realms and territories, and its subjects. The Monarch is responsible for appointing the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and the Federal Cabinet. The Monarch is bound to appointing the Chief Minister who holds the confidence of the House of Assembly. The Monarch also opens the House of Assembly after every election, and also can dissolve the House for early election upon the advice of the Speaker or the Chief Minister.

The Monarch is also the font of honour, and grants peerages, knighthoods, awards, and appoints the non-sovereign monarchs of the realms.

Regent

In times where the Monarch is reigning and is incapacitated or below the age of 13, a Regent is appointed by either a member of the royal family or the House of Assembly. The Regent exercises the powers of the Monarch whilst they are incapacitated or until the monarch reaches 13. If the Monarch abdicates, is removed by the House of Assembly or dies, the Regent continues to serve.
