The Muddywater Republic is a little micronation in North America that was founded on March 30, 2012. It's a semi-serious micronation with a large number of regions. For the most part, it is bordered by the state of Indiana in the United States.

Government and politics

Muddywater's government is democratic in nature, with a representative component. Each Provence elects a Governor and a Presidential candidate by a simple majority vote. The Governor is the official representative of the province from which they hail. In the presidential election, the candidate who receives the most Provence endorsements is declared the winner.

Sovereignty

Muddywater has no official declaration of independence; however, it is generally considered sovereign.

Geography

Provinces and foreign territories are the two primary groups in Muddywater. Provinces are populous regions with some form of prospective tourist attraction and are governed by a government. Muddywater's overseas regions, on the other hand, are isolated, unpopulated, and frequently barren locations. In the future, overseas areas may or may not be open for development.

Muddywater is divided into two provinces: the Capital Valley Province, which includes the capital city of Muddywater, and the Lapping Pond Province. Sture Island in Antarctica and Hydra, Pluto's moon, are Muddywater's abroad possessions.

Military

Muddywater's Woodland Guard is the sole military force it has. The Woodland Guard is organised into three primary divisions, each named after a different branch of the military (Navy, Air Force, and Army); however, there has been talk of splitting them up into independent branches. The Woodland Guard has a basic rank structure and dresses in camouflage. If all else fails, the Woodland Guard employs airsoft weaponry to protect Muddywater; however, this has never been necessary. Provinces are allowed to establish their own military, but no provincial governor has yet to put one together.

Law enforcement

Muddywater has only one law enforcement agency, known as the National Police, which is run by the national government. The National Police are responsible for enforcing micronational legislation. Provinces are allowed to create their own local police, but no governor has yet to put one in place.

Military conflicts

Hasslewood conflict

When Muddywater refused to cede the claim after the Republic acquired Hasslewood Rock, the Kingdom of Domus reacted quickly by declaring war. According to Domus, Hasslewood is a "Royal Holding," and Muddywater was claiming their domain. The President retaliated by declaring Hasslewood to be a separate island from Rockall, which the Domus claim was annexed. While Muddywater has not declared war, it has granted it Conflict Status, whereas Domus has declared war. The conflict was settled after Domus and Muddywater reached an agreement after many days. The following are the conditions of the agreement:

1. Domus must refrain from taking aggressive action against Muddywater and agree to terminate the conflict. 2. Domus must not use its supporters to attack Muddywater indirectly. 3. Domus must accept Muddywater's other claims and agree not to contest them. 4. Domus must accept the war's end as an Honorable and Condtional Muddywater Withdrawal.

On April 6, 2012, Muddywater withdrew from the dispute and liberated Hasslewood Rock.

Culture

Muddywater has a vibrant culture for a fledgeling sixth-world micronation. Many people associate Muddywater culture with the words "redneck" or "hillbilly," yet it is culture. Country music, tractors, pick-up trucks, fishing, hunting, and darts are all mainstays of the culture.
