The New Soviet Socialist Republics were a communist union of the Lurk Federation and the Republic of Libertas. It was created as a method of uniting communist micronations and as a serious new-country project, which aimed to successfully create a new communist state. It had territory which bordered the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom.
On 11 Febuary 2012, Alex White of the Lurk Federation was discussing his nation with Harry Fitzpatrick. He said that he did not like being the sole active politician of Lurk and not being part of a larger government. He also said that he missed the time of Utopia, a former political union which included Libertas and Lurk. Soon after this conversation, Harry Fitzpatrick suggested a new, Soviet style nation. This idea was very popular with Alex, and Harry promised to come up with more details for the next day.
The following day, as promised, Harry had came up with more details - a name (the New Soviet Socialist Republics), a flag, and a governmental process. All of these were approved by Alex and a formal foundation date was set to Tuesday 14 February. However, after just ten days in the NSSR the Republic of Libertas seceded on 24 February as the Democratic State of Monovia, resulting in the NSSR dissolving and the Lurk Federation resuming its previous political status.
The nation was a single party state run by the Communist Party of the NSSR. The party appointed a president, who was supposed to run until their resignation, death, or if convicted of corruption. The premier was head of the party and was subject to an annual public election. Direct democracy was also used where appropriate. There were two governmental ministries in the NSSR, one dealing with inland affairs and another with foreign affairs. A united front began to form in the brief period of the NSSR's existence, but by its dissolution it had only the CPNSSR as a member and the Union of Vexillologists as an applicant.
The NSSR was made up of two Soviet Socialist Republics, Lurk and Libertas. Libertas was subdivided into five cities located in and around the northern English city of Sheffield. Lurk is a large region bordering Prague with its most iconic place being Nek River which is a major part of Lurkish culture and symbolism.

There were plans to develop the economy of the NSSR, such as creating a virtual economy to pay governmental officials in the proposed currency of the NSSR, the NSSR credit. There was also a small forum economy, with stocks and shares in major companies from the time of the Lurk Federation, however Harry Fitzpatrick stated that he desired to bring them under state control.
After the creation of the NSSR, Harry Fitzpatrick sent a message to all his diplomatic allies informing them that their relations wouldnow pass on to the NSSR. Burkland, Domanglia, Juclandia and the UPA had embassies on the forum of the NSSR.
