The National People's Congress, sometimes referred to as the NPC, is the legislature of the Government of Tropicana. It's bicameral, consisting of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies. The congress is presided over by the President of Tropicana, who wields totalitarian power over the government and nation, and the Prime Minister of Tropicana who is appointed by the President.
History
The National People's Congress was formed on 13 May 2022 when the fist government was formed. It started as a semi-presidential government but quickly evolved into being operated under a totalitarian dictatorship.
Role
The role of the congress, since the dictatorship was instated, has become largely ceremonial. Despite this the Chamber of Deputies does help the Workers' Party of Tropicana implement policy. The Senate's role is to keep the Chamber of Deputies in check and to approve of any proposed bills before they are sent to the president to be signed into law.
