National symbols of St. John are symbols that represent St. John. The official symbols of St. John are symbols that represent the state and government and enforced on the law. These official symbols are the flag, coat of arms, and the national anthem.

The Flag of St. John is a horizontal bicolour flag of gold and white with green and blue hoist containing a white star. Flag of St. John can refer to previous designs of the flag used by the St. Johnian government. The current flag of St. John was designed by William Timothy who later officiated its use on 5 April 2014.

Symbolism

According to the official explanation of the St. Johnian government, the colour of gold symbolizes the wealth of St. John. Meanwhile, white colour symbolizes peace and resurrection. The colours green and blue symbolize the land and water areas in St. John and the white star symbolize the Bright Morning Star.[1]

Flag Day

The date on which the flag began to be used by the St. Johnian government (5 April) is celebrated as a holiday called Flag Day (Indonesian: Hari Bendera). It is being public holiday in St. John since 2018.

The coat of arms of St. John symbolizes the government of St. John. The current coat of arms was designed by William Timothy, the President of St. John. It features eagle as supporter to represent St. John the Evangelist, the patron saint of St. John.

Symbolism

The coat of arms of St. John features two eagles as supporter to represent St. John the Evangelist, the patron saint of St. John. The shield symbolizes protection. The thirteen white stars on the shield represent the year 2013, the year when the establishment of St. John was declared and a seven-pointed red star representing perfection. In the shield there are also three marble pillars that symbolize the Three Pillars of Williamism, two handed shaking symbolizing the diplomacy and openness of St. John in the intermicronational world and a scroll covering the below part of the shield, carries the motto, which reads: Persaudaraan, Nasionalisme, Persatuan which translates to "Fraternity, Nationalism, Concord".[2]

National anthem of St. John

The national anthem of St. John can refer to the current anthem used by the St. Johnian government or several national anthems that was previously used by the St. Johnian government. The national anthem currently used by St. John is Fugue in G minor, BWV 131a which adopted on 20 December 2017.
