Dissolution of New Eiffel

The New Eiffel–United Kingdom East Border—colloquially the "main border" due to its prominence—was the east border of four international borders based on the four cardinal directions (points of the compass) between the Principality of New Eiffel and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in which New Eiffel was completely enclaved. About 8.9 metres (29 feet) long and located in the only populated city, New Leeds, it was the most frequently crossed border in the principality, with approximately 950 to 1,300 documented crossings annually. The border, alongside the New Eiffel–United Kingdom West Border, was one of only two New Eiffelic borders to have a crossing.

Border

The border was about 8.9 metres (29 feet) long, and the most crossed border in the entire micronation. It was one of only two borders—the other being the New Eiffel–United Kingdom West Border—to have a crossing. The entrance had no gate, while the barrier was a small brick wall with a metal topper. Fronting the border on the New Eiffelic side were three potted plants and lights for decoration. The border was located entirely in the city of New Leeds, the only populated city in the principality, and lead to XCUT Therapy Parking, a parking lot of the eponymous business. From there, individuals crossing the border could access the entrance of the Main Building, XCUT Therapy or New Leeds Alley if transporting bicycles, waste containers, building materials or machinery.

History

The border barrier had existed in its current alignment since 28 November 1967. The border had been the east border of the Principality of New Eiffel and all of its predecessor states since the Republic of New Finland first claimed the area on 4 January 2018, through the Kingdom of New Finland on 4 June and finally New Eiffel on 11 August. It was the only border not featured on the video tour of the kingdom on 6 June by founder and then-Prime Minister Zabëlle Skye. Originally, the border ended once it reached the barrier, but the border was slightly redefined in a minor territorial change on 8 May 2019 to include the entire fence within New Eiffel. The barrier itself saw little to no change throughout New Eiffel's history, and the principality eventually dissolved on 1 November 2020 following an almost year-long crisis.

Crossings

Alongside the West Border, the East Border was one of only two New Eiffelic borders to have a crossing. The entrance had no gate, while the barrier was a small brick wall with a metal topper. It received approximately 950 to 1,300 documented crossings annually, making it by far the most crossed border in New Eiffel (the West Border had approximately 20–45 annual crossings). It was also the only crossing that allowed for motor vehicles to travel through, the West Border being strictly for pedestrians and cyclists. According to the Ministry of Transportation, the large number of crossings was solely due to clients for XCUT Therapy coming in from the United Kingdom, within which New Eiffel was enclaved. Internally, it possessed the Mail Code 001-ES.
