The Protectorate of Nomantia, more commonly known as Nomantia, is an island protectorate located in Kingdom of Fontasia. The capital of Nomantia is Gosnold. Nomantia is the southernmost territory of Fontasia in the New England region. The current population of the protectorate is 2.
History
Nomantia, originally known as Nomans Land, was a United States Navy bomb testing site during the cold war, from 1943 to 1996. Following 1996, the United States abandoned the island and deemed it unsuitable for reuse due to the vast amount of undetonated explosives located along the island. On the 25th of September, 2022, the Kingdom of Fontasia annexed the island for their own territorial expansion purposes. The former base camp located in the northern region of the island, is now known as Gosnold, which happens to be the capital city of Nomantia. Many winding roads lead through the island, including to the site of a former airfield, known as Camp Cappoaquit. Camp Cappoaquit is the only other settlement besides Gosnold located in Nomantia.
Government
The current leaders of Nomantia is Protector António Salazar, and King Conor I of Fontasia. The current governing party is the National Monarchist Party of Fontasia.
Geography
Nomantia consists of a subtropical climate, similar to that of Fontasian Dilu. The landscape consists of clearwater beaches, minor hills, marshland, and of course, bombs.
Project LocDet
Aware of the dangers of the unexploded weapons about the island, it is a Fontasian megaproject to "locate and detonate" any bombs in order to make Nomantia more suitable for human life. The project is said to begin as soon as 2030.
