The November 2022 Georgienstinian congressional election was held on 3–4 November 2022.
It resulted in a Georgienstine First victory, with the party keeping its majority and seeing minor gains. Vision Georgienstine saw major gains, with its best results since the January 2022 Georgienstinian congressional election, which is partially attributed to its active electoral campaign.
Background
The September 2022 Georgienstinian congressional election resulted in Georgienstine First remaining as the majority party, however seeing major losses in seats and the popular vote. The Vision Georgienstine alliance was second and saw minor gains in the popular vote. The new Christian Social Democratic Party saw major gains, winning 3 seats and 18.2% of the vote.
On 6 September 2022, Matthew Tonna won the speaker election receiving 10 votes, to Azerianus Severanus's 5, with 1 not voting.
On 25 September 2022, Sean Dunkerque left the Majority Caucus to join the Minority Caucus, citing that the Majority Leader was "not listening to the caucus members". He rejoined the caucus, the same day.
On 15 October 2022, the Christian Social Democratic Party formally dissolved. Congressman Logan White resigned, leaving his seat vacant. The party’s two other congresspeople became independents.
On 20 October 2022, independent congressman Augustin Leclerq renounced his citizenship and lost his congressional seat.
Electoral system and organization
The National Congress is composed of 16 seats elected by proportional representation in a single nationwide constituency, with a legal threshold of 1 full seat (6.25%), and residuals assigned by the D’Hondt method.
Campaign
Georgienstine First
On 24 October 2022, Georgienstine First released its congressional list. The party campaigned on the economy, social issues and created the first Georgienstinian political lawn sign. Their campaign was not particularly active due to prominent members being on vacation during the campaign.
Vision Georgienstine
On 27 October 2022, Vision Georgienstine released its congressional list. The alliance came under criticism after leader Nicolas Caiazzo claimed that the alliance refused to attack GF and wished to cooperate with the party, despite Vision Georgienstine being the main opposition party. However, on 24 October 2022, Caiazzo made a statement citing numerous policies the alliance would campaign on in the congressional election and announced that the party would campaign on social issues, despite having previously refused to take positions on them, calling them "unnecessary in micronations".
