Operation: Mousetrap, also known as the Benereich Invasion of Rat Island was one of the first intermicronational interactions for The Empire of the Benereich involving boots on the ground, operation mousetrap consisted of 7 Benerian Special Forces Operators scouting, infiltrating, and claiming Rat Island. This invasion was attended by King Bendolf Rikler himself, and his vast tactical knowledge was effectively wasted on the assault, as there was zero resistance encountered throughout the operation.

Background

Main Article: Rat Island Sovereignty Dispute

Following the Benereich's Decleration of War against the Tauranga Commonwealth of Micronations, the Empire sought to move against their enemy in a swift manner. Looking to Rat Island, which was close to Site "77" Turret Peninsula as well as Site "67" Grace, the Benerian High Command passed the motion to back up their claim of the island with military force. Planning begun the day before (30th October 2022) where Benerian High Command would draw up an invasion plan of the island.

Before the Operation

Prior to the assault, Benerian Armed Forces enjoyed a respite at Site "67" Grace, with a party being held to commemorate the event. Not only were notable Benereich commanders present, such as Jake Legatus, Lennox Guderian, and his majesty King Bendolf Rikler himself, but also foreign representatives such as William Simmonds. Field Marshall Wesley von Dookington was not present due to contracting pneumonia. Once Benerian Forces were properly motivated, they began the attack.

The Operation

Due to the lack of military personnel guarding the island, capture was swift and decisive, with no weapons being drawn. There was time for numerous photographs to be taken.

Aftermath

Once the operation was deemed victorious, Benerian Forces went back to their celebrations, but this time, in victory of their achievements as opposed to preparation for them. This operation was the first of what the Empire believes to be many victories against Commonwealth forces.
