The Order of Brandon I (officially the Order of King Brandon I) was the highest award constituted by the Kingdom of Matachewan. It was named after Matachewan's only king, Brandon I. The order was to be superseded by the Order of St. Anthony of Padua which was never introduced. Thus the Order remained the highest and only honour of Matachewan. It was active from its founding on 26 October 2019 and was last awarded on 18 October 2020 at which point it remained dormant throughout the rest of Matachewan's existence. There were 3 recipients in total. King Brandon never used the title of protector of the order.

Design

The centrepiece of the order, the star, is inspired from the defunct Order of the Norwegian Lion, but with a circlet upon which is inscribed "BRANDON I" around a white eagle displayed. The star of the order is the pendant on the collar and on the medal, the collar is an alternate repetitive chain of the star and a gilded white eagle. Previous versions of the collar have displayed only the chain itself, without the pendant.

The Order has been through numerous design changes, each change attributed to the flaws of the previous. It has been designed in the form of a collar, a medal or breast star, and a ribbon bar. Part of its intention was to replace the illegitimate use of the Order of the White Eagle on the Matachewanian coat of arms.
