The orders, decorations, and medals of Blazdonia are a system of awards and honours to celebrate the actions and deeds of citizens, military members, and foreign dignitaries for their service to the Blazdonian Kingdom as a whole.

Honours are used as meritorious recognition for achievement and service;

Decorations are often utilized to recognize specific actions or deeds;

Medals are used as recognition of service in a specific operation, theatre, long and valuable service, and good conduct. They may also commemorate special events.

The Defence Medal recognizes Defence Force personnel who have

  • enlisted for an indefinite period and rendered four years qualifying service; or
  • enlisted for a fixed period and completed the specified period of enlistment, or a period of four years, whichever is the lesser.

Former members who did not complete the qualifying period may also be eligible if they:

  • died in service;
  • were medically discharged;
  • discharged from service due to a discriminatory Defence policy of the time; or
  • discharged from service as a consequence of mistreatment.

Blazdonian Operational Service Medal BOSM 2021 The medal was established to provide recognition to Defence personnel involved in declared operations

or other services that the Chief of the Defence Force or the sovereign deems to be worthy of recognition.

Blazdonian Operational Service Medal - Border Protection
Blazdonian Operational Service Medal - Border Protection BOSM - BP 2021 The Operational Service Medal – Border Protection recognizes the range of border protection operations conducted. To qualify, Defence members must have been deployed or force assigned for duty as a member of a declared operation:
  • For a period of not less than an aggregate of 30 days; or
  • Completed 30 sorties from a unit assigned to a declared operation, provided that those sorties were conducted over a period of not less than an aggregate of 30 days at a rate of one sortie per day.
  • Must be or have been assigned to a border post.
Blazdonian Operational Service Medal - Civilian
Blazdonian Operational Service Medal - Civilian BOSM - CV 2021 The Operational Service Medal - Civilian, this may be awarded to Defence civilians and other classes of civilians who are employed on operations under the provisions of the Defence Force.
Blazdonian Operational Service Medal - Special Operations
Blazdonian Operational Service Medal - Special Operations BOSM - SO 2021 The Operational Service Medal – Special Operations recognizes the service of Defence Force members on special operations as declared by the Chief of the Defence Force or by the sovereign himself.
Blazdonian Service Medal 2021 The Service Medal was approved in 2021, and may be awarded for service in, or in connection with a prescribed non-warlike operation.
Blazdonian Defence Force Service Medal 2022 To qualify for a Defence Force Service Medal, a member is required to complete 15 years of efficient remunerated service prior to 20 April 2047 and must have been serving on or after 14 February 2022.

A minimum of 12 years in the Regular Forces and up to 3 years in the Reserve (to total 15 years) can be counted towards the medal only.

Clasps are awarded for each further periods of 5 years efficient regular service. Reserve service and Continuous Full Time service in the Reserve does not qualify towards clasps for this medal.

Blazdonian Defence Long Service Medal 2021 The Defence Long Service Medal may be awarded to a member who has completed 15 years qualifying remunerated service in the Defence Force. This includes efficient service in Permanent and Reserve Forces. Clasps are awarded for each further periods of five years efficient service.
Blazdonian Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal 2021 The Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal is administered by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. It is awarded to members of recognized charitable or humanitarian groups who provide humanitarian assistance in designated areas of the world.

The medal recognizes humanitarian service, which the Regulations define as 'service that gives immediate remedy to needy or distressed persons in order to sustain their life or dignity; or action to assist needy or distressed persons in order to sustain their life or dignity'.

The medal can be awarded to members of recognized groups who are exposed to risk or danger when giving humanitarian service overseas during international peacekeeping operations or during periods of civil or military strife or war.

The medal is not designed to recognize distinguished service by individuals.

Blazdonian National Emergency Medal 2021 The National Emergency Medal was approved in October 2021 for award to members of eligible organisations or individuals who rendered qualifying service in response to nationally significant emergencies within Blazdonia.
Blazdonian National Medal 2023 Permanent and part time members remain eligible for the National Medal as a result of full or part time service with other eligible organisations such as the Police Force, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Corrective Services and the Protective Service.

Members must have completed 15 years remunerated and efficient service (prior to 20 April 2023) and be serving on or after 14 February 2028.

Blazdonian Reserve Force Decoration 2022 The Reserve Force Decoration may be awarded to an officer who has, on or after 14 February 2022 and before 20 April 2042, completed 15 years efficient remunerated commissioned service in the Reserve Forces. A minimum of 12 years as a commissioned officer in the Reserve and up to 3 years as a commissioned officer in the Regular Forces (to total 15 years) can be counted towards the medal only.

Clasps are awarded for each additional period of five years efficient commissioned Reserve service after qualifying for the medal. Regular service does not qualify towards clasps for this award.

Blazdonian Reserve Force Medal 2024 The Reserve Force Medal may be awarded to a member who has, on or after 14 February 2024 and before 20 April 2044, completed 15 years efficient remunerated service in the Reserve Forces. A minimum of 12 years in the Reserve and up to 3 years in the Regular Forces (to total 15 years) can be counted towards the medal only.

Clasps are awarded for each additional period of five years efficient non-commissioned Reserve service after qualifying for the medal. Regular service or service as an officer does not qualify towards clasps for this award.

The Order of Blazdonia

The Order of Blazdonia recognizes Blazdonians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement.

There are four levels of award. The Order of Blazdonia also has a Military Division (awards in this division are recommended to the Governor-General by the Minister for Defence).

Anyone can nominate a member of the community for an award in the Order of Blazdonia.

Nominating someone is a chance to recognize a peer for their hard-work, service and dedication. It is an opportunity to celebrate those inspiring people who make the nation what it is.
