Owen Itzen is a Phillip politician from the United States. He is chairman of the center-left Progresivos De Fe and National Assembly Representative of the Alemana Region. Owen Itzen began his micronational career in February 2019 by joining the Democratic Republic of Seybold and eventually served as the Attorney General during the 2019 Seybold Civil War Threat. In March 2023, Itzen announced his candidacy for presidency with his brother Austin Itzen as his running mate, but lost in a controversial election to current President Iyan Seeker.
Itzen also owns the O. National Standard General Incorporated, also known as "ONSG Inc.", a company that claims to have ownership over 183 companies.
Political career
Seyboldish Political career
Owen Itzen became a citizen of the Democratic Republic of Seybold in early 2019. He was appointed as the Attorney General by President Cooper Norfolk and also held a seat in the National Assembly and the Lawmaker's Council until the nation went defunct in late June 2019.
On 28 March 2019, Owen Itzen was requested by President Cooper Norfolk of Seybold to investigate a potential “national security threat” against the nation. He reported to Itzen that Chairman Max Joseph of the Stalin-Socialism Party had been threatening government members and flaunting the idea of a “civil war”. On 5 April 2019, the Itzen Memo was released to the President of Seybold. In the memo, Itzen gave Norfolk permission to deal with Max Joseph in any way he saw fit, trying to stay as neutral as possible in the matter. Three days after the memo was released, the Seybold Department of Immigration revoked Joseph's citizenship and deported him.
Phillip Political career
On 9 January, the Republic of Phillip was established. As the nation was being founded, Owen Itzen and Cooper Norfolk joined to create the Ugandan-Ngombe QAnon Social Workers Coalition. The goal of the Coalition was to prevent acting President Jaxson Renny from turning Phillip into a Theocracy. Itzen ran for multiple offices in the 1st General Election (Phillip), but did not win anything. On Jaxson Renny's first day as president, he appointed Itzen as the Governor of Calabaza.
On 8 February, Itzen struck a deal with President Renny in order to be appointed as the Minister of Corporations. In exchange for the appointment, President Renny would receive ownership of ten of the companies that Itzen claims to own under his ONSG conglomerate.[1] This deal was viewed as extremely controversial by many politicians in Phillip at them time. The controversy only furthered when on the 12th of February, Itzen denied an application to register a business in Phillip due to a political disagreement. Minister Reed Von, who submitted the application, sued Itzen for corruption.[2]
On 3 March, Itzen was elected as the first ever Representative of Commerce. The position was established after a bill attempting to restrict the power of conglomerates in Phillip, which included the creation of the office, was passed into law. According to the law, the position was created in order to "maintain cooperation between the National Assembly and business owners[3]". Only leaders of a conglomerate are eligible to run for the office and voting is only open to shareholders of the conglomerate. Itzen ran uncontested as he was the only eligible candidate.
On 23 March, Itzen launched his campaign for President under Los Nacionalistas Libres with his brother Austin Itzen as his running mate. On 8 April, Itzen released a speech to YouTube where he announced he ended his campaign to run as close political ally Nick DeVorb's running mate. In that same speech, he laid out several ideologies that the campaign and his party supported, such as Progressivism and Social Democracy.[4] Itzen would end up controversially losing the election to underdog Iyan Seeker, who won by getting members of his and running mate Madison Marcos' families to vote for them. In response to Seeker's win as president, Itzen would strike a merger agreement between his party and the Cork Party to form the Progresivos De Fe.[5]
Personal life
Outside micronationalism, Owen Itzen is a High School Student in Florida and a Swimmer. He is trilingual and speaks German, Spanish, and English.
