Role
The officeholder is the titular head of the Office of the Paymaster General and holds some executive powers over their office. They are answerable to the Secretary of State for the Treasury.
Office of the Paymaster General
The office is chaired by the Paymaster General and aids them in their duties. The office is sometimes known as the OPG. It holds accounts at the Bank of Athor on behalf of government departments and selected other public bodies. The office also oversees the Government Banking Service and manages some higher government accounts.
Appointment
The paymaster general, unlike other ministers, is typically appointed directly by the Monarch without the nomination from the Prime Minister. However, the prime minister can still nominate candidates.
