The Poplar Conservative Party was the opposition party in the Republic of Poplar Nerva. They were founded as a further right-wing contrast to the Poplar Republican Party by Benedict of Nerva on 9 May 2020.

History

Founding and victory

The Party was founded on the 9th May 2020 by Benedict in order to compete against the PRP in the 10th May General Election. They subsequently won three out of five seats in the HoC, and became the ruling party. However, relatively little was achieved during this short term in office, but their most notable achievement was ending the COVID-19 lockdown, and subsequently reopening the House of Constituents, on the 31st May 2020.

Opposition

On the 2nd June 2020, the Second Essexian Civil War began, and the Conservative government opted to support the Second Federation of Essexia over the Commonwealth. This action would prove to be their downfall, as shortly afterwards Popler Nerva was suspended from the Grand Unified Micronational (Likely due to Vice Chair and Essexian loyalist Lord Matthew), the blame falling on the ruling party. As such, the HoC held a vote of no confidence in Benedict, which succeeded; Jack assumed power, and called a for a General Election to take place on the 3rd June. The PRP won this election with four seats, and as such the Conservatives were thrown from government after 23 days.

Dissolution

They were, by de facto, dissolved with the rest of the nation on the 25th October 2022 at 16:35 BST.

For most of their existence, the PCP existed as an opposition party to the PRP.
