Poplar Micronational Legal Consultants (Abbreviated to Poplar MLC) was an intermicronational organisation devoted to teaching basic legal system concepts, aiding micronations in creating functioning legal structures and providing staff or otherwise organising legal cases. It was impartial and a non-profit organisation, operating within Poplar Nerva.

History

The organisation was created on the evening of the 24th January 2020 following Premier Jack's work in creating a legal structure for another micronation. He wanted to create an organisation free of micronational partiality to aid others, from giving basic advice to creating in-depth legal structures.

The organisation, by de facto, dissolved with the rest of the nation on the 25th October 2022 at 16:35 BST.

Essexia

Poplar MLC wrote most of the 'Comprehensive Guide to Essexian Law; Legal Handbook (First Edition)', which was certified by the Supreme Judge the Hon. Jacob and released on the 24th March 2021. It collected the guidelines and statutory regulations on the legal system, as well as relevant statutes, in one document that could be accessed by anyone. The Second Edition was released on the 29th April 2021, and included Essexian legal cases, precedent and more tips (as well as a new cover). Poplar MLC was also included in the foreword as having produced the guide.

Premier Jack Esq. represented the plaintiff in Jayden v. Matthew (2021) from the 25th March 2021 to the 27 April 2021, a landmark Commonwealth Court case in the Commonwealth of Essexia. It was Poplar MLC's first case, and set a number of precedents for future Essexian court cases.

Ikonia

Poplar MLC had agreed to aid the Kingdom of Ikonia in developing their legal system. They were advising HM Abrams I on the ideal legal system, and planned to write an Ikonian-focused legal handbook. However, these efforts quickly became defunct and led to no notable results.
