Neo-Patriotism

Neo-Patriotism, previously known as Preponderatism, is a political ideology that advocates for the complete dominance of a ruling party or a single leader over society. This ideology believes that the ruling party is the only legitimate source of power and that the masses must submit to its authority. Neo-Patriotism aims to create a society where the ruling party has control over nearly every aspect of people's lives. Neo-Patriotism is extremely similar to a police state. Steven "Senator" Armstrong is the fictionalized post-boy of Neo-Patriotism, with the main 'theme' or 'anthem' of the ideology is Collective Consciousness.

Beliefs

Complete dominance of a ruling party or a single leader over society. The ruling party is the only legitimate source of power. The masses must submit to the authority of the ruling party. The ruling party must maintain absolute control over all aspects of society. Individuality and dissent are not tolerated. The ruling party promises to provide security and stability to the masses. Neo-Patriotism is additionally somewhat Proto-Fascist and the name itself - Post-Preponderatism - is inspired by the Armstrong quote "We're all Sons of the Patriots now!" referencing The Patriots.

Goals

To create a society where the ruling party has absolute control over every aspect of people's lives. To eliminate individuality and dissent. To maintain and strengthen the ruling party's power. To preserve the traditional values and culture of the society. Their tactics generally include using propaganda to control the masses and promote the ruling party's ideology. Suppress dissent and individuality through force and intimidation. Maintain a surveillance state to monitor the activities of the people. Control the media and education systems to promote the ruling party's ideology. Use a secret police force to root out dissidents and maintain order. A successful nation ruled by Neo-Patriotism would likely result in a society where individuality and dissent are not tolerated, and the ruling party has absolute control over every aspect of people's lives. The society would be oppressive, with no room for freedom of expression or thought. The ruling party's promises of security and stability would likely be hollow, as true security can only be achieved through personal freedom and individuality.

Anthem connections

The ideology's anthem 'Collective Consciousness' is the boss theme for Metal Gear EXCELSUS, piloted by Senator Steven Armstrong in the video game Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The lyrics appear to denote the deranged beliefs of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats, letting the poor and downtrodden be sacrificed for the gains of the rich and powerful, keeping in theme with Armstrong's position as a senator. Alternatively, the lyrics could refer to how the game's protagonist Raiden perceives Armstrong, as this song plays before Armstrong reveals his true motives behind his actions. On the other side, with Armstrong's true beliefs and motivations in mind, it can be read as his personal boon about everything that he hates about "American" leadership and society. It also greatly reflects on the actions, motivations, and even the beliefs of The Patriots - a secret society in the Metal Gear Universe -, especially their AIs. Fittingly enough, they are actually discussed by Raiden and Armstrong right before the battle begins.
