The President of Vothestan is the head of state and head of government in the Federal Republic of Vothestan.
History
The office of president is the oldest in the Federal Republic of Vothestan. It was established on 2 July 2022 by the first president, Luke of Vothestan.
Legislative Powers
The current presidency exerts significant power over legislation and the law-making process.
Signing and Vetoing Bills
The president's most significant legislative power is to veto any bill passed by parliament.
Convening and Adjourning Parliament
To allow the government to act quickly in case of a major domestic or international crisis arising when Parliament is not in session, the president may call a special session of one or both houses.
Executive Decrees
The president may rule by executive decree. These allow for the president to rule the republic without parliament. Executive decrees are legislation created by the president that they then sign into law without presenting it to parliament.
Executive Powers
The president is head of the executive branch of the federal government and is obligated to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed".
Administrative Powers
Presidents make numerous federal appointments upon taking office. Ambassadors, members of the Cabinet, and other officers, are all appointed by a president. The president also possesses the power to manage operations of the federal government by issuing various types of directives, such as presidential proclamation and executive orders.
Foreign Affairs
President possesses broad power over matters of foreign policy and to provide support for the president's exclusive authority to grant recognition to a foreign government. In accordance with this the president may appoint ambassadors to represent the nation and to help promote the Federal Republic's goals and ideals abroad.
Commander-in-Chief
One of the most important of executive powers is the president's role as commander-in-chief. Declarations of war are typically proposed by the president and has to be approved by the Chamber of Deputies but the president has ultimate responsibility for the direction and disposition of the military.
Judicial Powers
The president has the power to nominate federal judges including those to sit on the Supreme Court. However, these nominations require Senate confirmation before they may take office.
Post-Presidency
Political career
After their stint in office, Presidents may choose to retire from politics in Vothestan or they may continue to serve in government. All former presidents are guaranteed a seat in the federal senate if they choose to take it at any point after their presidency.

Styles
The President is given the formal style of: His Excellency, The Honourable President of Vothestan.
However normally only one of the formal styles (His Excellency or The Honourable) is used at one time.
The President is most commonly referred to as "Mr President".
