The Prime Minister of Askana is the head of government of the Askanan Republic. As head of government, the prime minister coordinates the actions of ministers, represents the Government of Askana to the other bodies of state, is accountable to parliament and keeps the president informed. The prime minister can hold the role of head of government with the portfolio of one or more ministries.
Appointment
There is no limit to the number of terms a person can serve as prime minister as they serve at the president's pleasure. The prime minister is appointed by the President of Askana following legislative elections, after having heard the parties represented in the parliament. Usually, the person named is the leader of the largest party in parliament.
Role
The prime minister sits as head of government, guides the government's legislative process, advises the president and also nominates ministerial appointments. The prime minister also typically sits as on the Council of State - an advisory body aimed to aid the president in how to exercise much of their power.
As well as this the prime minister can draft governmental decrees to submit to the president.
