The Prime Minister of Capia is the head of government in the People's Republic of Capia and the chairman of the Cabinet of Capia.
History
The prime ministership was established on 9 February 2023. Initially it was almost going to be a Vice Presidency but then the office of PM was established.
Appointment
The prime minister is officially appointed by the President of Capia. Officeholders serve at the president's pleasure. However, as the prime minister sits in parliament, parliament can nominate people for office to the president.
Role
The prime minister has overall responsibility for government policy. They set the government's agenda and nominate candidates for appointment as cabinet ministers.
The prime minister also oversees the government proposing legislation within parliament and enacting government policy and can also nominate senators. Prime ministers can also direct civil servants and nominate people for appointment as civil servants.
The president can also choose to delegate some authority over the armed forces to the prime minister and so they, alongside the minister of defence can oversee aspects of the armed forces.
