The Prime Minister of Kebrait is the head of government and the third highest office in the Republic of Kebrait. As head of government, the prime minister coordinates the actions of ministers, represents the Government of Kebrait to the other bodies of state, is accountable to parliament and keeps the president informed. The prime minister can hold the role of head of government with the portfolio of one or more ministries.

There is no limit to the number of terms a person can serve as prime minister.

Election

The prime minister is appointed by the President of Kebrait. By convention, the PM is usually the leader or senior most member of the largest party in the national assembly.

Role and Powers

The prime minister is the senior executive who heads and exercises the authority of the Government of Kebrait. The prime minister is ultimately responsible for the policy and decisions of the government.

Some of the duties of the prime minister include:

  • Overseeing Operations of the Civil Service
  • Overseeing Policy and Decision Making of the Government
  • Setting Government Agenda
  • Nominating Ministers
  • Keeping the President Informed
  • Proposing and Developing Legislation
  • Advising the President

Oath of Office

To become prime minister, PM-elects must swear an oath upon entering office:

"I swear that I will dedicate my efforts to the well-being of the Kebratian people, promote their welfare, protect them from harm, uphold and defend the Basic Law and the laws of the Federation, perform my duties conscientiously, and do justice to all. So help me God."
