The Progressive Coalition (Old Sabian: Prögrecıvik Alüak; Pashqar: Nashqäbëf Tabëk), known by the joint Sabian-Pashqar acronym PA–NT, and sometimes called simply the Coalition was a Sabioveronese electoral coalition of centrist, centre-left and left-wing political parties formed on 28 June 2013 by the Roots Party (AEM) and Initiative for Democracy (AMD), and led by AMD founder Ann Stefanović. PA–NT was formed to unite the progressive forces opposed to the traditional parties of Sabia and Verona, the Socialists and Unity.

The Progressive Coalition became the largest political force in Sabia and Verona after the September 2013 election, in which Stefanović became Prime Minister and the PA–NT received a supermajority in the Legislative Courts.

History

Ann Stefanović, founder of the AMD and leader of the Coalition, who served as Prime Minister from 2013 to 2014.

The two founding members of the Coalition, the Roots Party and Initiative for Democracy, were young parties formed mere days before the formation of the Coalition. The Roots Party was a merger between the XAM and the FSF, the third and fourth largest parties in the May 2013 election; Initiative for Democracy was formed by a progressive faction of the Unity Party led by Stefanović.

Following Napoléon Bleuberrie's failed coup d'état attempt on 25 July 2013, the Coalition took an aggressively anti-Bleuberrist stance and campaigned heavily against Bleuberrie's Socialist Party. The small Pashqari People's Party (PMM) joined the Coalition shortly thereafter, on 27 July. Ahead of the September 2013 election, the Coalition chose Stefanović to be their candidate for Prime Minister, office she won comfortably after leading the PA–NT to a landslide victory against Unity; the divided and acephalous Socialists did not participate in the election, and slowly faded into obscurity.[1]

With the Socialists gone and the Unity Party considerably weakened, the Coalition became the Kingdom's main political force, cemented by the supermajority it had received in the September 2013 election (15 out of 20 seats).

However, the rule of the Progressive Coalition would not be long; the wave of political change that came from the formation of the Juclandian Federation resulted in infighting in the Coalition. The Roots Party became divided into a more radical left-wing faction and a moderate, primarily environmentalist faction; the left-wingers soon joined the Communist Party and the remnants of the Socialist Party to form the Left Alliance on 24 February 2014. The remaining moderate factions of the AEM formed Convergence and Amity. Neither party chose to stay in the Coalition, leaving the AMD and the PMM alone.

For its part, Initiative for Democracy lost most of its appeal when Stefanović announced she would not seek a second term as Prime Minister after April 2014. When the AMD chose not to put forward any candidates for the March 2014 election, the PMM became the only force of the Coalition to get representation in the Courts, though it did not run under the Coalition's banner.

On 13 June 2014, the speaker of the Coalition, Nürul Man Baaran, announced the official disintegration of the PA–NT.
