He's written two books,[1][2] produced a feature-length film and has appeared on ABC's Shark Tank and NBC's Judge Mathis.

Personal life

Williams was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 1, 1976. At age three, he moved to Pasadena, California and Sunland, California, where he lived from age seven to 13. Williams spent the next two years in Kissimmee, Florida before moving to Tucson, Arizona at age 15. He graduated from Tucson’s Amphitheater High School and then studied journalism and Portuguese at Pima College before attending The University of Arizona to major in Journalism.

Radio career

Williams grew up listening to various “Slow Jams” type radio shows and, when he was 15, he and his family moved to Tucson, Arizona. It was there that he got his first opportunity in radio. He began volunteering at KXCI, a local public run station, filling in for the nighttime deejay one night a week, staying up until 6 a.m. to host his slow jams show before going to his first-period high school class. By the following year R Dub! was working at KJYK-AM Power 1490, a local AM station specializing in hip hop and R&B, and on July 24, 1994 “Sunday Night Slow Jams” was born. R Dub has been the host and producer of the show ever since.

After KJYK, Williams Went on to work at radio stations including (but not limited to) Arizona stations at KOHT (Marana), KSJM (Tucson), KRQQ (Tucson), KZZP (Mesa) and KKFR (Mayer), then across the country XHRM and XHTZ (Tijuana) to KHHT (Mettler).

In 2002, Sunday Night Slow Jams went national, debuting in two new markets: Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nogales, Arizona. In 2005, Williams launched his very own 24-hour Slow Jams internet radio station. In December 2007 he launched Slow Jams Radio 92.3FM in Los Angeles the city’s first 24-hour all Slow Jams radio station. The station was Hot 92.3’s HD Digital “Side Channel” and was heard in Los Angeles at 92.3FM digital channel two on any receiver with HD technology. Soon after the launch of Slow Jams Radio in Los Angeles, iHeart Radio picked up the format as part of their national HD programming. In 2014, Williams became the Director of Programming for XHTZ (Z90) and XHRM (Magic 92.5) in San Diego.

Creation of Slowjamastan

The Sultan's Desk, the first installation in Slowjamastan.

Williams visited the Republic of Molossia in June 2021, which served as inspiration for the creation of Slowjamastan. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, his goal to visit all 193 countries was delayed as the remaining 18 countries he planned to visit had closed their borders. According to Williams, "I ran out of countries, so I made my own". Williams travelled to Slowjmastan for the first time on 11 November 2021 to officially break ground and supervise the installation of 2 new signs by the side of Highway 78. The construction on Slowjamastani land, such as the signs, the office of the sultan, and the phone booth were all supervised by Williams. To celebrate the founding occasion, Williams hosted a 'Meet the Sultan' event where he invited citizens and the public to Slowjamastan and delivered a speech in the national language - general foreign accent (GFA).

“We are very thankful and appreciative of the government of Imperial County and our allies in California and The United States and most of all are just joyous for the people of Slowjamastan that now have land of their own. We will begin building immediately. Fences, signs, a watchtower, perhaps a hot dog stand and a bowling alley… we have big plans. I have no further comment.”
