The Republic of Aibreania, or simply Aibreania (prounounced ab-rawn-ia) was a landlocked micronation that was established on 9 July 2011, by Joel Holderness. The micronation was located in England and is bordered by the town of Dewsbury in West Yorkshire. The total population at it’s peak was 4.
Aibreania was a parliamentary republic with its seat of government located in Holderness.
Etymology
President Joel Holderness named the republic after himself. The name Aibreania is derived from the Irish word for April, Aibreán. April is the birthdate of Joel Holderness, and he has traces of Irish ancestory.
History
The Republic of Aibreania was officially founded on 9 July 2011, by Joel Holderness, and claimed his household as territory of Aibreania, as well as proclaiming it as the capital city. The nation was, at first proclaimed as a single-party state because no other political parties were present during that time.
On 4 December 2011, Aibreania became a parliamentary republic and Christianity was adopted as the official religion of the republic.
Government and politics
Formely a single-party state, Aibreania is a parliamentary republic. As of 4 December 2011, the only political party in Aibreania is the Aibreanian National Party for Peace. Its current president is founder and current leader of the party, Joel Holderness.
Military
Aibreania created its first branch of military on 5 August 2011, the Aibreanian Peacekeeping Force (APF). President Joel Holderness has declared that the APF will only be deployed if any Aibreanian territory is attacked, or as a 'last resort' if any micronation(s) threaten peace between micronations.
Law
Aibreania abides and obeys British law. The Aibreanian National Party for Peace has created a few additional laws that do not stand in the United Kingdom, therefore do not need to be obeyed in de facto territory. This includes a ban of the Islamic religion and a ban of physical punishment on children. According to the government, there has been no cases of any of the additional laws having been broken, as of December 2011.
Climate
Aibreania has an Oceanic climate. Both snowfall and sub-zero temperatures are common during winter. It is located 73m - 76m above sea level.

Foreign relationships
Aibreania has opened diplomatic relations with Grunkia and Lurk. The independence of Aibreania has been acknowledged by the Domanglian Empire and the United States of Flatland.
Counties
Counties are administrative regions created for the purpose of local government. By law, all land that becomes a part of Aibreania has to become a part of an existing county, or the government will create a new county for the purpose of the newly accquired land. Holderness county was the first county to have been created. Counties may be de jure (legally owned) or de facto (claimed, but not owned), or could have parts of land that are either de jure or de facto.
Culture
Since Aibreanians are macronationally English, the culture of England is a major part of the culture of Aibreania. The national dance of Aibreania is the 'Slap and clap' dance. The ministry of culture was created on 9 August 2011.
Food
The official national dish of Aibreania is cheese toasted sandwich(s). The national food, referred to as the 'independent' food of the nation is buns (small cakes).
Drinks
The national drink of Aibreania is pure orange juice. Milk is also seen as part of Aibreanian culture.
Sport
The national sport of Aibreania is trampoline back bouncing. It has led to the creation of the the first sports team in Aibreania shortly after it was adopted as the national sport.
