Llofriu, officially the Republic of Llofriu,[a] is a micronation in Costa Brava in southwestern Europe. It's located north-west of Catalonia and north of Baix Empordà comarca.

Etimology

The origin of the name Llofríu could be of Germanic origin, deriving from the name of its settler (Lotfrid), or from the Latin locum frigidum.

History

The principal building was constructed in 1736. After that whis building was encreased between periods from 1856 to 1898. After that was constructed another building in 1987 and 1998. In 2002 was constructed a sport zone including a tennis and swimming pool.

Llofriu was formed in the late 1987. In February 1992 was redacted the first constitution. In 1998 was modified and then the last constitution was approved after COVID-19 on 1 December 2022.
