The Republic of Manistan, more commonly known as Manistan, is a soil-rich farm-state located in western Michigan. The country was proposed by a citizen at a non-formal gathering in late 2021, and was seen through by his group of friends until its inception on January 26, 2022. Due to its very small population and physical size, Manistan has not been officially recognized by any macronations or micronations.

Etymology

The name Manistan was created to be the most dangerous thing about the country, since it has a relatively small military, consisting only of a navy with two kayak-battleships, the original 6 Manistani founders theorized that having a name that strikes fear into the heart of any military in the world would be the best line of defense, then if that failed, they would be forced to unleash total naval annihilation.

History

Manistan as a country is very young, but the idea of the country is much older than when it was first created. The idea of creating a country stems back to late 2021, when a group of eighth grade friends were talking at a lunch table about creating a country. Joseph Heinz, one of the first six, remarks about the fact that it could work because of micronations. He knew about micronations because Manistan was not his first micronation. In early 2021, Joseph Heinz created a micronation called Tsurdonia, which has since been dissolved. However, as the weeks progressed, the friends split into two groups on their views of the micronation. There where those completely devoted to the cause, and those who were still friends, but did not put as much time and effort into it.

Politics and Government

Manistan has a simple political system, where all citizens over the age of 13 are able to vote. There are a proportional amount of oligarchs running for office to the amount of voting citizens, maxing out at 13 reigning oligarchs. Most of the reigning oligarchs of Manistan have come from a family of power, have had previous experience serving in Manistan, or have a title of nobility. As these are a trend we continue to see in Manistani elections, they are no explicit rules to have one of the listed powers to run for office. The only rule is to be over the age of 13 and live within a 50 mile (80.4 km) radius of the physical claim to run for a government position.

Law and Order

Manistan's police force would be considered one of the smallest in the world, as it doesn't have one. Its judicial system consists of the ruling oligarchs to take a vote on matters dealing with law and order in the country.

Military

Manistan currently has no military, other than two battleships. The leaders of the nation believe there is no need to have a military when you can strike pure and utter fear into the cold hearts of their enemies with the name of their country. This is part of the daily propaganda spread throughout the country on a daily basis.

Geography and Climate

Manistan's climate is a moderate temperature in summer and spring, chilly in autumn, and very cold in the winter. The geography of the countryside is just that, a countryside, Manistan is a mostly farm-state with 90% of its land being farmed at any point.

Economy

Manistan's economy is not too dissimilar from a South American country, such as Brazil, having more exports than imports. Some of Manistan's exports includes, a variety of flowers, watermelons, and corn.

National Symbols

The national flag of the Republic of Manistan shows 6 stars, to represent the 6 founding members of the country, the flag also contains red and blue, the red standing for power, the blue standing for the freedoms the country holds, and the freedom from the macronation it was created from. The coat of arms shows the flag and motto, but also depicts two white-tailed deer, an animal commonly found in western Michigan, the deer are toting tactical M16 assault rifles, in remembrance of the freedoms of the macronation Manistan separated from.
