Robert Smith II (born January 17) is an Elysiumite micronationalist, co-founder and Grand Emperor of Elysium under the name Robert II, from South Carolina. Before serving as Grand Emperor he was the founder of Elyria and the second President of Elyria. He is best known for his political career within the Empire of Elysium but also has served in Matachewan, Caudonia, Aspen, among other nations. He has stated that Elysium is his only major focus micronationally, now, and is not actively involved in the politics of any other nation except Aspen.

Early life

On January 17 Robert Smith was born in Georgia but he grew up and currently resides in South Carolina. Not much has been released on his childhood to the public but he has stated that he grew up in a devout Presbyterian family, and he maintains his faith. He has also stated that he is ethnically French and British but his family which are eleventh generation South Carolinians do not reflect the culture of their ethnic heritage. He has stated he and his family are very proud of Southern U.S. culture.

He cites a love for history – political history, in particular – as the reason he got into micronationalism.
