Merged with Socialist Labour and Liberal-Democratic Parties to form the United Party of Roscamistan |
The Roscamistan Freedom Party was the first and at one point, dominant party in the Republic of Roscamistan, and existed from 1 May 2021 to 1 December 2021, when it was dissolved along with the Labour Party of Roscamistan and the Liberal Democratic Party. It was a moderate Conservative party, and was founded by its first Leader, Thomas Jacobs, who served from 1 May 2021 to 1 September 2021, when Adam Flannery became the second Leader of the party. Flannery remained leader until the party was dissolved on 1 December 2021 and replaced by the United Party of Roscamistan, and Flannery became the first President of the United Party, and Thomas Jacobs, at the time the only President of the Liberal Democratic Party became the first leader of the United Party. Its former members became part of the conservative faction of the United Party.
History
Early History
In the beginning of Roscami politics, there were no political parties and the state was de facto non-partisan. A few executive orders in late April 2021 mention a “freedom party”. From 1 May 2021, it was considered a proper party. President Thomas Jacobs became first parliamentary leader of the Freedom Party. Even after he was overthrown and replaced by James Irwin as President of Roscamistan, he remained the leader. After his return to the presidency, Thomas made it clear that partisan politics was there to stay.
Later history and Adam Flannery’s arrival
On 20 August 2021, the extra-constitutional role of Paramount Leader was created, and a poll in the cabinet was done to decide who will have the high status non-cabinet position. Thomas was acting Paramount Leader until the vote as counted. Even though Thomas won, he declined the offer and the runner up Katherine Keadivich became the second Paramount Leader in succession to Thomas. On 23 August 2021, Adam Flannery became the Deputy Foreign Secretary, and was given special access to cabinet meetings. In Early September 2021, Adam Flannery became the 2nd Leader of the party, with Thomas becoming Deputy Leader, remaining President of Roscamistan.
On 5 November 2021, an attempted facist coup established the Liberal Democratic Party. This party along with the Freedom Party, were now the dominant parties in Roscamistan. Signs were showing the party was losing support from many sides.
Beginning of the end
In November 2021, it was announced that the Freedom Party, the Socialist Labour Party, and the Liberal Democratic Party were to merge on 1 December 2021 as the United Party of Roscamistan. This was due to disunity within politics, as said by Thomas Jacobs. The Leader of the Freedom Party, Adam Flannery agreed in principle to the idea.
The second and last election that the party contested were the November 2021 Major minister elections. Though the elections were officially non-partisan, mostly politicians affiliated with the Freedom Party won positions. On 1 December 2021, the Freedom Party dissolved. All current members at the time joined the new United Party of Roscamistan. Adam Flannery, last leader of the party, became the first ceremonial President of the United Party. Thomas Jacobs, last President of the Liberal Democratic Party, became the first parliamentary leader of the party. The freedom party became the conservative faction of the United Party.
