The Süper 8 (Super 8), is a virtual rimthud competition in Birgeshir.

It was previously known to be a rugby union competition until 2022 when the birgesh sport of rimthud (qængüm) was created.

The league emphasizes and takes full advantage of its virtual aspect, implementing "fast-paced" seasons, coed teams, flexible schedule and never-aging players.

History

Former logos of the league when it was a rugby union competition.

The league was founded as a rugby union competition during June 2020 under the name of "Birgeş Lig tӕ Ragbi" and, in 2021, "Süper 8". It was played on two old SNES games, World Class Rugby 2: Kokunai Gekitou Hen '93 and World Class Rugby, because its simplicity was useful for the league's purposes and as a tribute to Retrogaming. In early 2022, Deniz Yürük started to work on a new birgesh sport with the intention of making it the new national sport of his micronation since the first birgesh sport of Brosatamış, which was created in 2013, didn't have much success. He felt the importance of giving more attention and priority to things created within the micronation instead of things created by humans and sports were no exception. When the rules of the new birgesh sport called qængüm (rimthud in English) were ready, the Tsaloj took advantage of the standstill situation the rugby union league was fallen into due to frequent bugs in World Class Rugby that were ruining the competition. He decided to convert the league with all its eight teams into a rimthud competition instead of creating a new separate league. This decision was also supported by his idea of giving importance to "birgesh identity". The name of the league, "Süper 8", was retained.

In late July 2022 the conversion of the league was announced and with it, the inaugural season.

Gameplay

The games are simulated in the Microsoft Excel-based board game called "EasyQuick Manager: Rimthud!" created by Deniz Yürük for Amuself.

Each team has tactics to choose from wich may affect the result of each "drive" (the time span from the contending of the heavy spherical ball at the center of the circular court to its throwing for attempting to score).

Format

There are 8 teams in the league and they play against each other twice. At the end of the regular season, the top three teams qualify for the playoffs: the first-placed team automatically gains a spot in the Grand Final while the second-placed team and the third-placed team play against each other in a semifinal to determine which one will play against the first-placed team in the Grand Final.

Previously, up until Season 4, the four highest placed teams qualified for the playoffs and the first-placed team did not automatically qualified for the Grand Final, playing in the semifinals instead against the fourth-placed team.

Seasons are not necessarily simulated once every year like in reality and previous Birgesh leagues, but rather every year can have an indefinite number of seasons.

Teams

Even though Birgeshir is a non-territorial micronation, the only territorial claim considered acceptable by the Tsaloj is in a house. For this reason, the league consists of 8 teams representing some rooms and spaces found in most conventional modern houses.
