The Social Republic of Montpellier is a micronation located in Montpellier in South of France. The Republic was founded May 1, 2021, in a small territory of 90 m2. The Republic is based on a Constitution, which is a very people-based Constitution. Its political system is a Parliamentarian system, without any presidency. The Executive power is given to a Governement, elected by the Chamber of Deputies, the monocameral Parliament. We want to have foreign relations based on the respect of the Human Rights, the Ecologic Rights and with nations which defend all minorities in their nation.
Etymology
The name "Montpellier" comes from a city in south of France. "Social" mean that the citizens have all rights in the institutions, and that they're the only ones that can give power.
History
This nation was founded in 2021 May 1 in Montpellier, by two people who wanted to free themselves from the French Governement which is considered by them as a joke. The lack of representation and true democracy in France prompted them to build this small micronation.
Politics and government
The Republic is based on a Constitution, which is a very people-based Constitution. Its political system is a Parliamentarian system, without any presidency. The Executive power is given to a Governement, elected by the Chamber of Deputies, the monocameral Parliament. The ministries are submitted to continual control by the Chamber, the Citizens and the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court of the Republic is elected every year by a democratic suffrage.
