The Socialist Republic of Murrayfield, also known as Murrayfield, is a communist micronation formally known as the Imperial Republic of Murrayfield. The nation was reformed on January 18, 2009 and officially became communist on March 18, led by Premier Ben Lawson. On July 22, 2010, Murrayfield merged with the Kingdom of Barrington to form the Republic of Wyke.

The Socialist Republic of Murrayfield was originally formed as the Imperial Republic of Murrayfield in 2005 with Ben Lawson as its head. Things went well for a few years however it had to disband in late 2007. At the beginning of 2009, Ben realised, while talking with Daniel Blackburn, the leader of Danburnia, that Murrayfield was a micronation and decided to reform the Imperial Republic and on March 19, 2009, a Revolution took place and the Socialist Republic was created.

Politics and government

The Socialist Republic of Murrayfield is ruled by the Communist Party of the Socialist Republic of Murrayfield and there are two organs of government: the National Assembly and the Central Cabinet. The National Assembly is elected by the citizens at a general election and served as the parliament of Murrayfield, headed by the Premier. The Central Cabinet is appointed by the Premier and members could be from any party.

Premier

The Premier served as the head of Government and leader of Murrayfield and as the General Secretary of the Communist Party. The Premier has the power to represent the nation abroad and make executive decisions on behalf of the nation. However, the Premier has to take into consideration the views and decisions of the Central Committee, the Politburo and the Supreme Council, preventing any abuse of power and responsibility. The Premier also serves as the chair of the Politburo, Central Committee, Supreme Council, National Assembly and the Central Party Conferences. The current Premier is Ben Lawson.

President

The President serves as the head of government and deputy leader of Murrayfield. The President has less power than the Premier and one of the President's main tasks is to run the nation when the Premier was away on foreign business or could otherwise not fulfil his duties.

Military and sport

All citizens serves in either the People's Work Force, the Military or the Navy. The military operates using a DEFCON system of alert beginning with DEFCON 0, the least serious, to DEFCON 5. The military took part in the Murrayfield civil war (June 15, 2009 – June 22, 2009) and the War over Micronational Communism. Murrayfield and Barrington entered a joint bid to host the 2013 Micronational World Cup.
