Family History

The Williams Clan of Caddo Parish, Louisiana, USA, has a proud history. The family traces its ancestry to the early coupling of William J. Sullivan, a soldier in the U.S. Confederate States Army, and Edith Williams, a mulatto. While not much is known about the ancestors of Edith, William's father, John Sullivan, served in the U.S. Union Army against his son with the 15th Massachusetts Infantry. John's grandfather, also named John Sullivan, served in the U.S. Revolutionary War and was listed as a Bombardier in the Artillery.

The Williams Clan made a name for itself in both northwest Louisiana, and the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church. Charles H. Williams, son of William Sullivan, became a Methodist Priest and ultimately served as the Presiding Elder of the Minden Louisiana CME District. A brother of his, Robert S. Williams became a priest too, ultimately becoming the 6th Bishop of the CME Church and served as the Senior Bishop of the denomination from 1919 until his death in 1932. Throughout his educational career he attended Wiley College, Howard University, and Yale University earning a Doctorate of Divinity (D.D.) and later being awarded an honorary LL.D. The younger brother, J. Yancey Williams, Tony's great great grandfather, was a Freemason and landowner in Caddo Parish. The family would go on to produce generations of Freemasons and military veterans.

Correspondence and Publications

Taking action is what Tony is good at. He has corresponded with Presidents, Governors, Senators, Congressman, Mayors, and local leaders on a broad rang of issues over decades. When controversy over the 2000 Presidential Election kicked off, a young Tony wrote a small opinion in the Shreveport Times, which provoked a response. When Senator Trent Lott, who Tony met in 2000, made controversial statements at the 100th birthday celebration of Senator Strom Thurmond, who Tony met in 2000 and 2001,and corresponded with, Tony wrote to Republican leaders encouraging reprimand. Over the years he befriended, met, and corresponded with Senator Edward Kennedy and the President of Cape Verde, the Honorable Jorge Carlos Fonseca. When issues of COIVD-19 and the 2020 Presidential Election arose, he again published articles in the Shreveport Times and Gerontological Society of America.

He republished a series of African American historical books as part of a personal "Almost forgotten history" campaign. He also published a "Writings in Gerontology" in 2020 consisting of his undergraduate writings in the field.

Foreign Honors

w:Republic of Ireland By Deed of Entitlement, March 3, 2016, Tony was made a "Lord of Kerry." This Deed, signed by the Director of the Lords of Ireland, entitled him to an unspecified plot of land as a shared owner in Kerry Country, Ireland. As Lord of Kerry, he lay claim to a 2x2 square foot piece of land directly beneath the "Welcome to Kerry" sign, when entering the Country.

w:Scotland By Deed of Entitlement, March 6, 2017, Tony was made a "Lord of Dunans." As part of a restoration project of Dunans Castle, he was given a 1x1 square foot plot of land, with registration number and GPS coordinates.

w:Germany Tony was made a member of the Deutcher Orden in 2018 and Templeritter Orden in 2020. With these German honors and titles, he commissioned his own Coat of Arms under the style "Sir Tony T. Williams." The Coat of Arms is explained as follows:

The two German or Teutonic Knight Crosses represent the two German Knighthoods which he holds. They are styled following the German Cross used by Germany monarchs, such as Wilhelms II, a distant DNA associated ancestor. The Teutonic Knights have a long and rich history dating back to the religious crusades. The four birds are symbolic of the three bird found on the Williams of Wales coat of arms. The fourth bird is added bringing balance and equilibrium to that quadrant of the shield. Wales has been incorporated into the crest due to the founder’s distant DNA association to Prince Charles, Prince of Wales. The lion represents royalty and strength, an acknowledgment to the royal lineage of the founder. The color black is a combination of all colors and is consistent with the Empire’s Constitution and none discrimination based on color, ethnicity, gender, race, or religion. The color gold represents the ancient Egyptian royalty to which the founder is DNA associated with Ramesses III. The Knight’s armor is in recognition of knighthood. The Teutonic Crosses behind and below the shield are worn by Roman Catholic Clerical Teutonic Knights and Honorary Chivalric Knights (non- religious) of the various Teutonic Orders.

w:England In December 2020, Tony was made "Lord of the Manor, Friaries," commonly known as "Lord of Friaries." This Lordship was once held by King Henry VIII prior to becoming King of England. With this hereditary, none peer, title, he commissioned his own Coat of Arms under the style "Lord Tony T. Williams." The Coat of Arms is explained as follows:

The coat of arms as Lord of Friaries is blue and red. These colors represent justice (blue) and hardiness (red). The shield is divided into four parts. The top left is blue with a gold Teutonic Cross. This is a tribute to the Lord's German heritage and his knighthood. To top right is red with two birds. These two bird represent his wife and him and are adapted from the Williams of Wales coat of arms which has birds. The bottom left is red with three birds representing his three children. The bottom right is the Hessen Darmstadt crest. This has ties to the House of Mountbatten, which he is connected to via DNA, the Grand Duchy of Hesse, and the Luxembourg coat of arms. The crest is topped with a "Baron's Crown" and each side is supported by a Lamb. The Lamb connects with our National Motto, "Blessed be the fruit." The fruit is the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world.
