A Treaty of Mutual Recognition Between the Kingdom of Sayville and the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon is a treaty which instilled mutual recognition of sovereignty between the Kingdom of Sayville and the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon as well as recognition of formal diplomatic ties. This treaty was the first treaty signed by the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon, making the Kingdom of Sayville the first nation to hold formal ties with the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon. The treaty was written in both French and English, due to the Kingdom of Sayville's status as having French as an official language.

History

On 7 December 2020, an offer to pursue a treaty of mutual recognition between the Kingdom of Sayville and the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon was made by Charles Burgardt, King of the Kingdom of Sayville, to Carson Snyder, King of the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon. This idea was met positively, with Charles beginning to write the treaty and finishing on 10 December 2020. However, the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon was unable to sign the treaty until the Canon Governing Document of the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon was finished and ratified by the royals of the nation. The document would be finished on 16 December 2020 and ratified on 8 January 2021. A day prior to ratification, on 7 January 2021, the Kingdom of Sayville passed a motion to pursue diplomatic ties with the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon in a vote of 2 ayes, 0 nays, and 4 abstains.[1] The same day, a discussion on foreign relations with the Kingdom of Sayville took place during a Royal House Meeting.[2]

Provisions for elections outlined by the Canon Governing Document further delayed the signing of the treaty, however, as the Preclusionary Committee still needed to be elected, with the process beginning on 11 January 2021. During this period, the Kingdom of Sayville ratified the treaty on 14 January 2021 in a vote of 2 ayes, 0 nays, and 4 abstains.[3] The election process for the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon would end on 15 January 2021, allowing the passage of the treaty to take place. On 15 January 2021, the treaty was presented to the Royal Deluge of the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon. The next day on 16 January, it was voted on by the Royal Deluge, passed, and presented to the Preclusionary Committee. With no inquiry taking place by the Preclusionary Committee, the treaty was officially ratified by the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon on 19 January 2021 in a unanimous vote of 15 ayes and 0 nays.[4]

This treaty would become the basis for mutual recognition treaties in Northwood-Oregon, after permission was given to Carson Snyder to use the treaty template by Charles Burgardt. As of 30 April 2021, it has been used ten times by the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon.
