The Ultach Pound (U₤) was the official currency of Ríocht na hUlaidh Thair Nhua. One Ultach Pound is equal to the current price of petrol per gallon, an example if 1 gallon of petrol cost 2.78 USD, then U₤1 is equal to $2.78 USD. The lowest denomination is currently U₤1, and the highest is U₤100. The Ultach Pound was replaced by the Solidus in August 2009. The Solidus was subsequently replaced by the Sovereign on 15 November 2009.

All denominations featured HCM the King on the front along with the denomination (such as U₤1.) The backs of each note depend upon the value of the note.

Subunits

The Ultach Crown is the dominant of the two subunits of the Ultach Pound. One Crown is worth U£0.50. Each Crown shows a portrait listed below on the front, varying on it's value, and the Royal Coat of Arms on the back of each coin no matter what the value.
