Uniforms of the Baustralian Army
The uniforms of the Baustralian Army have evolved from the British and Canadian Armies. Full dress is distinctive to their regiment, however, colonels and above wear a distinctive staff officer, unless they serve the ceremonial position of Colonel of the Regiment.
Full dress
Full dress is worn on the most formal of parades, and only exists for some regiments. Other regiments on this occasion will wear either No. 1A or No. 2A orders of dress.
King's Grenadiers
The King's Grenadiers wear a scarlet tunic with eight buttons running from the waist to the neck, with blue pants with facings. The collar is black, with white facings. A bearskin cap with a red plume is worn, but can be replaced with a No. 1A cap if the member is a Sergeant or above, and if they are not on parade.
Royal Baustralian Regiment
The Royal Baustralian Regiment wears a scarlet military doublet with eight buttons running from the bottom of the tunic to the neck, with a kilt in the Baustralian National tartan. The kilt apron is fastened with a singular blue rosette if the member is a Sergeant or above, or two rosettes if the member is an officer. The collar of the doublet is black, and a gold version of the cap badge is pinned onto the collar. A glengarry with military-pattern dicing is worn. Officers wear a white leather crossbelt with a brass buckle bearing the cap badge of the regiment.
Numbered uniforms
Nos. 1A, 1AW, and 2A, and 2B are also to be worn with a brown leather Sam Browne belt, or a white web belt for NCOs. Sergeants and warrant officers wear sashes along with it, the former being crimson, and the latter, scarlet.
No. 1A dress
No. 1A is the formal uniform worn on the most formal occasions. It is worn by members of the royal family and senior staff, such as the Defence Council. Only some regiments are issued this uniform. Other regiments use No. 2A khaki uniform. Rifle regiments wear the uniform in green with black facings, while others wear it in blue with white facings. A peaked cap is worn for most regiments wearing this uniform. When No. 1AW is called, the blue jacket is replaced with a white jacket of the same pattern.
No. 2A dress
No. 2A is the formal uniform worn on the most formal occasions. It is worn by members of regiments that don't wear No. 1A dress. It consists of an olive coloured tunic and trousers, white tie, and buff shirt. A peaked cap is worn for most regiments wearing this uniform. When No. 2AW is called, a stone bush jacket replaces the khaki tunic, and stone trousers replace the khaki trousers. The No. 1A cap is worn with this order, rather than the No. 2A cap.
No. 2B dress
No. 2B is the service dress uniform, worn by all ranks and consists of a buff coloured uniform. It is worn in offices and non-ceremonial parades. In the summer, either No. 1AW or No. 2AW are worn. A peaked cap is worn for most regiments wearing this uniform. No white variant exists for this uniform.
No. 3A dress
No. 3A is the short-sleeve order of dress, the same as No. 2B without the tunic, and a stable belt is worn with it. A peaked cap is worn for most regiments wearing this uniform. No white variant exists for this uniform.
No. 3B dress
No. 3B is known as the barrack uniform and consists of the same as No. 3A, with a khaki wool pullover. A peaked cap is worn for most regiments wearing this uniform. No white variant exists for this uniform.
No. 4 dress
No. 4 is the mess kit uniform, and consists of blue pants with regimental facings, a white shirt and black bowtie, a regimental cummerbund for other ranks or a blue waistcoat for non-commissioned officers and commissioned officers. A scarlet mess coat is worn over top for most regiments. No cap is worn with this order, unless the member will spend time outdoors, where a peaked cap is worn for most regiments wearing this uniform. If No. 4W is called, the waistcoat and mess coat is replaced with a white version of the same pattern
No. 5 dress
No. 5 is the battle dress uniform of the Baustralian Army, and of the navy as well in black cloth, and is largely based on the British Battledress uniform.
