North Fox Island is an uninhabited located just north of the State of the Fox Islands in East Lake Michigan, The Island is politically apart of the State of the Fox Islands, however by a 2019 act is not because the island is uninhabited. Being is the smaller of the two islands, 3.32 square kilometres (3,320,000 m2; 820 acres) in area, roughly 2 miles (3.2 km) wide by 1 mile (1.6 km) long.
The Island is most know for its land strip and place in the Oakland County Child Killer Case.
History
Investagations
In the 1960s and 1970s, a child pornography ring was discovered operating on North Fox Island. The proprietor of the island, Francis Shelden, used his position in a large social program called the Brother Paul's Children's Mission, as well as his position as a Big Brother with the YMCA in Ann Arbor, to fly boys in his private plane to his island retreat. The Ann Arbor News published a story in their weekend magazine on the proprietor's life, then published a second story when the crimes were uncovered. The crimes have long been suspected to have ties to the Oakland County Child Killer Case.
Airstrip creation
North Fox Island has an operational public 3,000-foot-long by 100-foot-wide turf airstrip as of 8/2015, making it accessible by general aviation. Airport designation is 6Y3.
Statehood
From early January till April, North Fox Island was apart of the State of the Fox Islands and had full statehood and state rights, however the north was not populated.
Islands Act
On April 20, 2019, President of the Republic of Quebec, Aidan McGrath Created the executive order that and small uninhabited islands current claim or not, may be claimed for the Republic as new unorganized territory as long as there is proof of zero population. That is how North Fox Island Became because it had zero population
