The Reino Unido de Portugal e Algarves (English: United Kingdom of Portugal and Algarves) also commonly known as the RUPA is a micronation founded on June 22 2002 in by Felipe d'Feitos (today Felipe IV) and other Azoreans revolted with a situation of the country. Is a sovereign state located mostly on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. It was one of the few Portuguese-speaking micronations. The capital and the countries largest city is Lisboa.

It was a member of the Liga das Micronações and Confederação de Futebol Micronacional.

History

The history of Portugal e Algarves began in 2002, the year of its foundation, from the reinstitution of the monarchy as a form of government and the renewal of the house of Bragança-Wettin (at the time, represented by Bragança-Wettin de Feitos), in the person of Felipe d'Feitos, ex-Azorean, who immediately became Prince-Regent of Portugal and Algarves.

Government and politics

Portugal e Algarves is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy, where multi-party rule prevails. The King, in addition to the protocol powers, appoints, according to the Portuguese Constitution, the Prime Minister and the Chancellor.

In February 2018, the Reino Unido de Portugal e Algarves was one of the founders of Confederação de Futebol Micronacional (Organ responsible for organizing and representing the football of the lusophone micronations.).

In April 2018 RUPA National Football Team participated in the first CFM World Cup organized by Confederação de Futebol Micronacional and the Portuguese-speaking countries. The country reached the quarterfinals when it was eliminated by Bugolavia.
