The Vice President, officially the Vice President of the Roscami Federation, is the deputy head of state and government of Roscamistan. The position was created along with the President of Roscamistan on 18 February 2021, when the state was founded. It is the second highest officer in the executive branch, outranking the Prime Minister, and ranking below the President of the Federation.

History

Early history

The office of Vice President was formed upon the foundation of the Republic, and alongside the President, formed the core leadership of the nation. Culann Burke was the inaugural Vice President, being appointed as such on 18 February 2021.

The office was held by Burke up until the May 2021 Roscamistan Coup d'etat, when he was removed alongside President Thomas Jacobs, and replaced by Kayden Conboy.

Election

The Vice President is directly elected on a joint-ticket along with the President in a presidential election. The Vice President can be of the same or different party than the President, or not have a party at all as most Vice Presidents didn’t have a political party affiliation.

To become the Vice President, the following requirements must be met:

• Must be of voting age
• Have membership in the Roscami Democratic Patriotic Front
• Must not be a Communist

If the office of Vice President becomes vacant midterm, the President shall appoint a replacement.

Duties

The Vice President is the deputy chief executive of the Roscami Federation, and a primary advisor to the President. Historically the Vice President was the president of the Senate, before the office was separated. The Vice President often holds a ministerial position as well.

The Vice President is first in the presidential line of succession, replacing the President in case of death, resignation, impeachment or permanent incapacitation.

Succession

If the President is mentally unstable, dead, impeached by the National Congress, has resigned or declared incapacitated by Government, then the Vice President succeeds to the Presidency and fills the rest of the term of the President. A presidential election must be held within sixty days.

If the President is on foreign trips, on holidays, outside of Roscamistan or is in international meetings, then the Vice President becomes acting President until the President can exercise the powers of the Presidency again.

List of vice presidents

There have been a total 11 Vice Presidents with ten individuals holding the office and two of them having served on non-consecutive tenure. The first Vice President was Culann Burke, with the current office-holder being Marco Hasse since 1 January 2024.
