The Weisserian Commonwealth, also known as Weisseria was a micronation established on 15 November 2020 by Adryvia. It was originally completely virtual before claiming the Mackinac Island. It was dissolved by proclamation of Baron Carson Snyder on 26 June 2021.
Etymology
The Weisserian Commonwealth name was a combination of suggestions from citizens occurring on 16 November 2020. Space initially suggested that the title of the nation should be "Commonwealth" out of his personal liking. Weisseria would then be suggested by Just Jhckvb before the suggestions were combined into Commonwealth of Weisseria by Adryvia. These suggestions, along with other ideas, would be put to a vote in which the name "Weisseria" won in a vote of 8-3-1 and "Commonwealth" tied with "People's Republic of" in a vote of 5-5-1-1.[1] A runoff vote was later held between the tied titles on 21 November 2020, with "Commonwealth" winning in a vote of 6-5 and the name "Weisserian Commonwealth" being adopted.[2] The name Weisseria originates from the song Siege and Investiture of Baron von Frankenstein's Castle at Wesseira by Blue Öyster Cult.[3]
History
Foundation and Convention
The Weisserian Commonwealth was founded on 15 November 2020 with the creation of its Discord server as an unnamed nation. On the same day, a constitutional convention was called by its founder Adryvia. This convention would end with a vote on the written Constitution of the Weisserian Commonwealth occurring on 29 November 2020 and passing with a vote of 9–1 on 30 November 2020. On 5 December 2020, the Weisserian Commonwealth held its first elections simultaneously. The Grand Council election was without contest as only three citizens ran and the council was made up of three seats, these three citizens would be Adryvia, Space, and Steely Ted. Running for President were Dylan and Simon Reeve. On 6 December 2020, the election would be called for Dylan, winning 62.5% of the vote.[4]
Removal of Government
On 7 January 2021 at 11:33 PM EST, Adryvia announced bluntly in the Discord "I have assumed control of the nation" with the dissolving of the government. He would move quickly to form a transition council with Space and two members that presumably joined specifically to fulfill the post.
