The Whig Party was a center-right political party in the Empire of Austenasia established by Lord John Gordon, Viscount of Thetford and HG Bradley, Duke of Dullahan on 17 May 2019. The Whig Party is the third political party to be established under the Political Parties Act 2018, which greatly reformed the way parties are established in the Empire. The party was originally founded as the National Liberal Alliance, until its name was changed to the Whig Party on 24 October 2019. It was disestablished as a legal organization on 26 May 2020 through the Political Parties Act (2020).
The party espouses classical liberalism and from its foundation until the February 2020 Austenasian elections was in a coalition with the Imperial Party. Lord Gordon ran as a candidate for Prime Minister in said elections, but the day before the vote left the Whig Party due to ideological differences between himself and the Duke of Dullahan, forming the Peoples Party the following day. The Whig Party is currently represented in Parliament by Lord William Wilson.
