List of streets in New Eiffel

Worker's Street was a pedestrian street in Seat Square in New Leeds, the largest city of the erstwhile Principality of New Eiffel. Fully paved, it was the only designated street in New Eiffel not to be located on a road. It connected five locations—the Main Building, Smith Restaurant, XCUT Therapy, a privately-owned events venue and New Leeds Alley. Designated on 12 May 2020, the street was named to commemorate the working class. The street permanently lost its designation upon New Eiffel's dissolution on 1 November 2020.

Description

Located entirely in Seat Square, Worker's Street began at the front door of the Main Building—located to its east—and north of Smith Restaurant. It had a privately-owned events venue to its west and the back entrance of XCUT Therapy to its east. Ending at the New Eiffel–United Kingdom North Border, Worker's Street lead into New Leeds Alley to its east. Worker's Street was 3 metres (9.8 feet) in length, and was the only street in New Eiffel not to be located on a road. It was also one of only three fully paved streets in the micronation—the others being Norton Street on the New Eiffel Main Route 1 (NEMR 1) and Northwest Street on Dead Tree Lane. Despite having a drainage pipe, Worker's Street was prone to flooding.

History

The New Eiffelic Ministry of Transportation began designating streets on 28 December 2019. By 10 March 2020, it had designated nine streets which comprised every section of road in the micronation—four on the NEMR 1, two on Dead Tree Lane and on each on the J16, J25 and Prince Zabëlle I Road. 1 May marked May Day in the surrounding United Kingdom and International Workers' Day. The government of New Eiffel wanted to commemorate the working class, and allocated the Ministry of Transportation to name something after the holiday. Having designated a street on every road in New Eiffel, the Ministry spent nearly two weeks of deliberation before deciding to instead designate a street on a pathway in Seat Square. Thus, on 12 May, Worker's Street was officially designated. The street permanently lost its designation upon New Eiffel's dissolution on 1 November 2020. After the territory in which Worker's Street was located was incorporated into the state of New Eiffel of the Grand Duchy of Australis on 12 January 2021, the street did not re-receive its designation.
