The President of the Terredepaixan Republic (POTTR) is the head of state and head of government of the Terredepaixan Republic, and also leads and directs the Terredepaixan Defense Forces, as its commander-in-chief. The president also directs the Executive branch of the Terredepaixan government.
History
The presidency was created on October 17, 2022, after former king William Brown proposed a law in the federal assembly that would abolish the Terredepaixan Monarchy for good. After a few government reforms and changes made by him, a general election of the Terredepaixan citizens would be held on the official discord server of Terredepaix. After 2 hours of voting, it was determined that Owen Mcgarry of the Kingdom of Cronic won the presidency, and the second most voted person, former prime minister Brad Blakerson aka Raisin of Yoppinpand, won the vice presidency. On October 21, 2022, a referendum was held to shorten the term length of the president to 4 months renewable instead of 2 years renewable once. The referendum was a success, and the changes to the terms were made. On November 1, 2022, William proposed a switch to the way a general election was done, as to make the previous one less confusing. He declared a new general election on November 1, 2022, for the positions of President, Governor, and Territorial Governor. After the general election, it was decided that William had won, and became the second president of Terredepaix.
Qualifications
The President of the Terredepaixan Republic, according to the constitution of the Terredepaixan Republic, must be at least 10 years of age, have had some experience in micronationalism or politics of any nature, be a citizen of Terredepaix, and not have been convicted of a crime within the past 5 months.
Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities
The President of the Terredepaixan Republic is the head of state and head of government of Terredepaix, as well as the commander-in-chief and director of the Terredepaixan Defense Forces. The president has to represent Terredepaix diplomatically, direct and command the Terredepaixan Defense Forces, and help lead the Terredepaixan Government. They are also the soul people who can sign a treaty integrating entities into the Republic. They can also propose bills in the Congress, which would be put up for voting by the members of the Congress, and sign laws passed in the federal assembly. They also have duties to swear in any new government official. The president is also responsible for maintaining and moderating and protecting the Terredepaixan discord server.
