Abbas Kermani (born Abbas Reza oghlu Kermani; Oghnazi Azerbaijani: Фиифы Лукғфтш) was a Azerbaijani politician & retired KGB officer and founding father of Azerbaicanin. He is the Premier of the AZSSR from 1967 until his resignation in 1976. He is most notable as the father of Ahmad Kermani.
Life
Abbas was born in 1 October 1920 in the ADR, six days before the ADR fell. He was the son of Reza Kermani (1882–1941) but his mother was unknown. His family were powerful and rich, having their descendent being Ismail I of the Safavid dynasty through his son, Bahram Mirza Safavi. He later joined the Communist Party of Azerbaijan in the 50s and later became a KGB officer. In 1958, he married Mehriban Kermaniya, a barista who was the niece of Mir Jafar Baghirov, the leader of Soviet Azerbaijan. He and Mehriban had four children. The most prominent one was his youngest son, Ahmad Kermani. In 1963, Abbas's wife was killed & his oldest son, Ali was traumatised for 2 years. In 1967, he created the AZSSR in 1967 making himself Premier. Ali was the expected heir to the Premeirship until he fled Azerbaijan until 1991 because he was accused of murdering the Soviet leader in 1971. Abbas resigned in 1976 making Ahmad the new Premeir. In 1988, he retired as KGB agent & lived his life with his second wife, Sahiba. In 2021, he died at the age of 100 due to old age and was declared oldest person in Azerbaicanin today.
