Administrative divisions of Easway
The Easwegian Common Union is a federation which comprises of two commonwealths and four municipalities. Each cultural municipality contains a proportional number of constituent prefectures and their local townships. Easway also contains one free governing area known as the Associated Community of Vardø Town Islands, a special economic zone as part of the Hopen Island prefecture, and four reserves.
Most federal decisions of the Common Union are confirmed by the federated councils of the commonwealths, minus certain criminal codes and national selection processes, through the principle of subsidiary. Contained within the commonwealths are municipalities, which are responsible for confirming housing planning, regional cultural affairs and maintaining municipal infrastructure, among others. Prefectures are formed among community and geographical boundaries as seats of the municipal council, regulated by the municipal popular committees. Since the 50th amendment, prefects of the federal United Common Assembly have been decided by multi-member municipal constituencies. Inside prefectures, townships form the base level administrative level, each containing a direct-democratic popular committee.
Commonwealths
The Commonwealths form the first level subdivision under the Common Union. Holding federated powers, they are each led by an Alderman and a commonwealth council. The Bear Island commonwealth contains three municipalities, and the Pomors Frontier commonwealth contains one municipality and the Common Sailors National Park.
