The United Federation Air Force (UFAF) is the air service branch of the United Federation Armed Forces. Established on 19 March 2023, it is fourth in the order of precedence. The United Federation Air Force communicates its core missions as air supremacy, global intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance, rapid global mobility, global strike and command and control in the air.

The UFAF is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defence. The highest-ranking military officer in the Air Force is the Chief of Air Staff, who exercises supervision over Air Force units and serves on the Chiefs of Staff Committee. The Chief of Air Staff is appointed by the President of the United Federation with the advice and consent of the Senate.

Along with their own independent air operations, the air force also provides air support to land and naval forces and aids in the recovery of troops in the field.

History

The Air Force was established on 19 March 2023 and was the fourth military branch to be established.

Mission and Functions

The air force's missions have changed little since the branch's foundation and are often presented as air superiority, global integrated intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), rapid global mobility, global strike, and air command and control.

Air Superiority

The UF Government defines air superiority as gaining and maintaining dominance in the air and being able to provide support to other forces and the carrying out of operations without prohibitive interference from enemy forces.

Global Integrated ISR

Global integrated intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) is the synchronisation and integration of the planning and operation of sensors, assets, and processing, exploitation, dissemination systems across the globe to conduct current and future operations gaining intelligence and reconnaissance information.

Rapid Mobility

Rapid mobility in the UFAF if the swift and timely deployment and sustaining of resources, assets and personnel in situations of deployment, exercise, operations and cross-branch work.

It provides joint military forces to be able to move easily from place to place while retaining the ability to fulfill their primary mission while deployed or on exercise. Rapid mobility is essential to just about every military operation - allowing troops to reach foreign and domestic destinations quickly.

Global Strike

Global strike is defined by the UF Government as the ability to effectively and efficiently carry out precision attacks or strike persistently and rapidly.

Global strike can include functions such as close air support, air interdiction and nuclear deterrent operations.

Air Command and Control

Air command and control functions are performed through an arrangement of personnel, equipment, communications, facilities, and procedures employed by a commander in planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling forces and operations in the accomplishment of the mission in air. It links to all other core missions of the air force and how they are implemented.

Organisation

The air force is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defence. The Minister of Defence has some leadership capacity over the air force as well as the President of the United Federation as Commander-in-Chief. The highest ranking military officer in the air force is the Chief of Air Staff who is the overall commander of the air force. The chief is aided by the Vice Chief of Air Staff, both of whom are appointed by the President on the advice and consent of the Senate.

Personnel

There are a range of specialisations that enlisted airmen and officers can take but all jobs are split by entry level - based on whether someone is enlisting or hoping to commission.

Air force ranks are split between enlisted airmen, non-commissioned officers (NCOs) and commissioned officers. The lowest air force ranks sits as Airman and the highest ranks as a General. However, during exceptional circumstances the rank of General of the Air Force is awarded.

Commissioned Officers

Commissioned officers are split into three categories. The ranks of Second Lieutenant to Captain are classed as company grade officers, field grade officers are ones ranking from Major to Colonel and air officers are ones ranking from Brigadier General and up.
