The Blazdonian Federal Police (BFP) is the Kingdom of Blazdonia's main and primary federal law enforcement body, charged with investigating crime and safeguarding the Kingdom's national security. The BFP is a Department of Home Affairs autonomous entity that reports to the Minister of Home Affairs and is accountable to the Blazdonian Parliament. Kuyicon Cranion is the commissioner of the Blazdonian Federal Police as of February 2022.

Transnational, serious, complicated, and organized crime, including as terrorism and violent extremism, cybercrime, child exploitation, drug smuggling, and human trafficking, are all targets of the BFP. The BFP is also in charge of providing protective security in major airports and close protection for dignitaries such as the Prime Minister of Blazdonia and foreign diplomatic missions, as well as providing law enforcement training to Asia-Pacific partner agencies, acting as Blazdonia's international law enforcement and policing representative, and contributing to international peacekeeping.

History

Oversight

The BFP and the Blazdonian Crime Commission are overseen by the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Law Enforcement, which is made up of members of the Blazdonian House and Senate.

Roles & Functions

The BFP's mission is to uphold Blazdonian criminal legislation, assist in the fight against sophisticated, multinational, severe, and organised crime that threatens Blazdonia's national security, and preserve Common-Pride interests in Blazdonia and abroad.

The Minister of Home Affairs is in charge of the BFP. The minister of home affairs sets the BFP's key goals through a "ministerial directive." The following are some of the operational priorities:

  • investigating complex, transnational, serious and organised crime
  • protecting Blazdonians and Blazdonian interests from terrorism and violent extremism
  • representing Blazdonian police and law enforcement on an international level
  • developing unique capabilities and exploiting advanced technology to support Blazdonia's national interests.

Continued responsibilities include providing:

  • a national protection capability to ensure the protection of specific individuals, establishments and events identified by the Blazdonian Government as being at risk.
  • a national counter-terrorism first response capability focused on aviation security and protection of critical infrastructure.

National Operations

Federal agents are situated in each Blazdonian state and territory capital city, and make up the majority of the BFP's workforce. They are primarily responsible for criminal investigations.

Current areas of focus for the BFP:

  • Serious major fraud against the government
  • High-tech crime involving information technology and communications
  • Prevention, countering and investigation of terrorism
  • Transnational and multi-jurisdictional crime
  • Money laundering
  • Organised crime

Uniform Protection

The Blazdonian government's physical security is provided by the BFP Specialist Protective Command at critical places across Blazdonia and worldwide. At many Common-pride establishments, uniform protection officers (also known as Protective Service Officers or PSOs) are trained in firearms and defensive tactics and perform duties such as armed escorts, bomb appraisals, bomb detection canines, visitor control, static guarding, alarm monitoring and response, mobile, foot, and bicycle patrols, maintain civil order, security consultancy services, and counter-terrorism first response. Within their jurisdiction, Protective Service Officers have the authority to arrest, stop, search, and require identification. Uniform protection officers play a key role in securing Blazdonia's important infrastructure and assisting in the protection of high-ranking Blazdonian officials, diplomatic and consular workers, and other foreign people.

Protocol & Ceremonial

The BFP Ceremonial Team performs and takes part in a wide range of police and community celebrations and ceremonies.

The annual National Police Remembrance Day Service on September 9 at the National Police Memorial, medal presentations, parades, police funerals, memorial services, official opening of police stations and policing facilities, BFP pipes and drums concerts, inauguration events, and public relations events are among the ceremonial events.

The BFP Ceremonial and Protocol Officer (CAPO) Network, the BFP Ceremonial Mounted Cadre, and the BFP Pipes and Drums all work together to execute ceremonial tasks at these events.

Drill teacher accreditation and ceremonial and protocol officer accreditation are now provided by the BFP Ceremonial and Protocol team to all of Blazdonia's policing jurisdictions.
