The Blazdonian Nationality law is an Act enacted by Royal Decree to regulate nationality and citizenship in the Kingdom of Blazdonia. It was introduced and commenced on 5 April 2021, coinciding with the establishment of Blazdonia as a sovereign nation. The Act governs the acquisition, retention, and loss of Blazdonian citizenship and sets the framework for the country's nationality law.

Overview

The Blazdonian Nationality law establishes the criteria and procedures for acquiring and retaining Blazdonian citizenship. It also defines the circumstances under which an individual may lose their Blazdonian citizenship. The Act recognizes the principle of dual, triple, and multi-citizenship, allowing individuals to hold Blazdonian citizenship alongside the citizenship of other countries.

Citizenship by Birth

Blazdonian citizenship is primarily acquired by birth within the territory(ies) of Blazdonia. Any individual born within the borders of Blazdonia, regardless of the nationality of their parents, is eligible for Blazdonian citizenship. This provision applies to both children born to Blazdonian citizens and children born to foreign nationals.

Citizenship by Descent

Blazdonian citizenship can also be acquired through descent. A person born outside Blazdonia to at least one parent who is a Blazdonian citizen may be eligible for Blazdonian citizenship by descent. The Act specifies the requirements and procedures for establishing citizenship by descent, including documentation and proof of lineage.

Citizenship by Naturalization

The Blazdonian Nationality law provides for the acquisition of Blazdonian citizenship through naturalization. Eligibility for naturalization is based on specific criteria, including residency requirements, language proficiency, and knowledge of Blazdonian culture, history, and laws. The Act outlines the application process, including the submission of necessary documents and the assessment of eligibility by the relevant authorities.

Dual, Triple, and Multi-Citizenship

Blazdonia recognizes and allows dual, triple, and multi-citizenship. The Blazdonian Nationality law explicitly states that individuals can hold Blazdonian citizenship alongside the citizenship of other countries. Blazdonian citizens who acquire citizenship of another country or individuals with foreign citizenship who acquire Blazdonian citizenship do not automatically lose their Blazdonian citizenship.

Loss of Blazdonian Citizenship

The Act also specifies circumstances under which Blazdonian citizenship may be lost. These include voluntary renunciation of citizenship, acquisition of citizenship in another country through a voluntary and formal process, and acts that are deemed to be seriously prejudicial to the interests or security of Blazdonia. The Act outlines the procedures and requirements for the revocation or loss of citizenship in such cases.

Citizenship by Investment

Blazdonian citizenship by investment is a controversial provision within the Blazdonian Nationality law. While the Act allows for citizenship to be obtained through investment in the country, the King and some members of the government have expressed reservations about this practice. As of now, Blazdonian citizenship is freely available, and the Act does not provide specific regulations or requirements for citizenship by investment.

Amendments

Future amendments or modifications to the Act require the issuance of a new Royal Decree.
