The Citizenship Act 2024 is an Act of the Parliament of Florenia which regulates the processes for the admission and dismissal of Florenian citizens. The Act establishes Parliament’s exclusive right to control citizenship and it establishes a formal system for admission for the first time in the Kingdom’s history.
The Act describes how Parliament may admit and dismiss citizens and prohibits the delegation of those powers to the Council of State. The Act also appoints the Council Office to present the Sovereign with a Proclamation of Citizenship for their signature and seal.
The Citizenship Bill was introduced by Nathan on 7 January 2024 in the new parliament’s first sitting; all Florenian citizens were invited to participate in a digital venue. Following discussion, it was adopted on the morning of 9 January and received royal assent on 11 January, immediately coming into force.
